We Made the 3% - A Whitewashed Tomb, Draft 1 Complete!
I once read that some 97% of aspiring writers never finish the book they set out to write. In other words, only 3% succeed in bringing their unspoken story to life.
Yesterday, exactly 10 months after I began writing chapter one, I finished my first draft of A Whitewashed Tomb.
I never thought I’d say those words. Until recently, I wasn’t entirely convinced that I would make that 3% cut. Yet here we are.
I know I still have a long way to go, that writing my second draft is where things really get tough and then comes the grueling process of publishing; but yesterday marked a major milestone. As the final words spilled from my fingertips and a satisfied sigh escaped my lips, I was overwhelmed with emotion. I did it! I realized. I actually did it! After 5+ years of dreaming, the idea became reality, and I’m that much closer to holding the physical book in my hands… It brought me to tears.
But I didn’t do it alone. Though writing is a lonely profession, it’s also a team effort, in a way. I would have quit a long time ago if it hadn’t been for the support of my family, friends, and followers. Because of you, I’ll be able to see this through to the finish line.
So thank you. Thank you for making A Whitewashed Tomb possible.
